This book meme comes from The Book Date. The idea is that you can share what you have been reading, are reading, and are planning to read, as well as share your link to your post on their blog and find the blog posts of others who have also linked up. A great way to find new bookish blogs.
I’ve been doing this for 10 weeks now! Well, it’s been longer than 10 weeks since I actually started doing this, but because I get busy and overwhelmed sometimes, I haven’t posted one every week. I’ve figured out that if I write the post on the Saturday or Sunday before, though, when I tend to have more time, then I’m more likely to get it posted…because weekdays are super busy after work. And these posts take awhile to write. I really enjoy this post, though, so I plan to keep posting it in the future.
This week was a super slow reading week for me somehow but last night I DID finish Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce. I gave this book 4/5 stars and enjoyed the story even though it inevitably included a romance before too long. I included this in my Halloween TBR, because of the werewolves, but it wasn’t scary or really even that suspenseful to me, though it did have a nice pace to it.
I think it’s time I just admit that I’m likely not going to finish listening to IT in time for me to watch the movie by Halloween because I have been listening to this book for a LONG LONG time. And, I’ve only listened to 20 or so minutes in the past week. Yeah…reading failure. I may try switching over to the Kindle version to see if I can make some more headway that way because I have my heart set on finally unwrapping this movie that I’ve had for a good year probably and watching it.
I started Strange the Dreamer last night when I was already pretty tired so I may have to reread that first part because I cannot remember ANY of it now that it is morning. I’ve heard that Laini Taylor is a good author, though, so I have high expectations for this one.
Scarlet is another reread – I originally read it in 2015, so I’m sure I’ll remember a good bit of it as I read it, but I have forgotten enough of it that I can’t just pick up in the series where I left off…which I think was with Scarlet, actually. And also, can I just say that when I woke up this morning, after having just finished Sisters Red which ALSO has a Scarlett in it (yes, different name spelling, though), and I was trying to get some coffee in me to get my brain working, I was having a hard time separating the two stories a little bit. Both are Little Red Riding Hood retellings, and though both are quite different, I think, I just wonder about my reading choices sometimes when I read books with such similar themes back to back.
