Bout of Books 19

Hey, guys!

Long time, no see! I’m back or at least trying to be. College is hard stuff, let me tell you.

But, what I really want to write about in this post is that I am going to participate (to the level that I’m able) in Bout of Books 19.

Bout of Books Readathon 19

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01 am Monday, May 8th and runs through Sunday, May 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 19 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. From the Bout of Books team

I’m really excited about this because Spring Quarter is five weeks in now, and I have had, on average, five books going at a time all quarter, but I’ve been finishing hardly any, it feels like. I mean, I’ve been reading 1984 for what feels like weeks now and probably is. So what I want to gain out of this Readathon is to make more time this week to put down my phone and spend that time reading for relaxation, rather than mindlessly wasting time on my phone because I’m stressed out.

So…let’s talk goals:

  1. To finish up 1984. I am on page 214 out of 312. Even if it takes me all week, I am making this my number one goal, because while I am enjoying the book, I am done with it.
  2. To be mindful of my time, and spend 1 hour a day (if I can honestly spare it) with my phone put away and my book out. Facebook is, honestly, not that relaxing, but reading is. I think that I will find at the end of this week (assuming that I actually follow through) that I am more relaxed and happy for the time away from my device.
  3. To have fun with this challenge, but not to let it stress me out. School and family both obviously come first…this is just for fun.

I will do my best to update at the end of this and let you guys know how I did. And I will try not to stay away so long again in the future!

    1. I’m trying to not put pressure on myself to really just read all the time, because the truth is, I don’t have the time for that…even during a readathon. Which is why I actually jumped at the opportunity to participate in this one. No pressure…just make it your own. And I’ll really be most happy if I can just finish 1984 because even though I’ve read it before, I forget how it ends, and I’m rather anxious now to know after what I’ve read today! 😀
